I worked in the veterinarian field for 12 years until I took a break when I had my second son! My boys are 8 & 5 now so it was time I went back to what I enjoy!

I have always loved animals and have several of my own! I am so excited to have this opportunity and to be part of an amazing team!!

Isabel algarin
Isabel algarin

I got my start in a large shelter in South Carolina in Feb 2012 with no experience.

Little did I know I would be a part of the team that changed that facility into the largest no-kill shelter in the southeast, earned an AAHA accreditation, and changed animal welfare in the Deep South.

I gained invaluable knowledge working there and at other various shelters, corporate, and private clinics over the years. I’ve cared for thousands of sick and injured animals, assisted in many surgeries, and educated countless adults and children on proper animal care.

I joined Delmarva Animal Emergency Center after relocating to the Dover area when my husband received military orders and took some time away from my veterinary career to be a new mom.

Animal care has been a passion of mine since childhood! I’ve been in veterinary medicine for 11 years, with a special interest and dedication to the care of our senior pets.

My love of caring for our furry patients when their family is unable to be with them led me to join the team at Delmarva Animal Emergency Center in August 2021.

In my spare time, I enjoy camping, hiking, kayaking, and cuddling with my 6-year-old torti Naya.

Veterinary Tech

I am a Delaware native and life long animal and nature lover. I started working with animals as a young teen, doing some volunteer work with DHA and later, working in boarding and grooming facilities. I made the transition to veterinary medicine in 2001 after completing a veterinary assistant program. From there I acquired training, experience and my license. I have been a Veterinary Technician for 23 years. My experience consists of small and large animal and also some exotics. It is my passion. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family, church, hiking, geocache, traveling, gardening, trying new foods, and occasionally rehabing wild birds for re-release. I have an incredible daughter and one rambunctious cat.
